Day 7, Tuesday March 29th 2011 lotsa fishies...

This is gonna be a fishy update, literally! I am not saying fishy as in suspicious, I am sayin fishy as in fish, mammals and other creatures that belongs in the Vancouver Aquarium :-D. Got LOADS of pics though... most of this blog post WILL consist of pictures....a picture speaks more than words, right?

Sorry Nemo didn't see you...

First things first..the day started as usual with me having breakfast but not at Tim Hortons, this time I chose to go to Gutenberg's Cafe nearby Library Square on Robson St. Got some yummy pancakes, fruits and great coffee! Then I went to buy some wrapping paper for a present for my friend Jon Lundquist and his wife Cassie Lundquist :-D. I forgot to wrap it before I left Norway so..LOL.

Later on after camera was charged and I had lunch, it was time to take Bus #19 to Stanley Park from West Pender st, just two blocks down from my hotel. Cost was CAD 2.50 one way. Arrived at Stanley Park and after a brief moment of confusion, where to go? I got myself oriented and headed towards the Vancouver Aquarium.

On the way to The Aquarium you, walking alongside the sea in Stanley Park you see the Vancouver Rowing clubhouse

Quick glance of some of Vancouver city skyline..kinda.

And then finally here it is, Vancouver Aquarium!

After having my pic taken on the way in, a souvernir pic which I got of course lol, it was time to enter the wonder world that is Vancouver Aquarium. I chose to go Explore the New Amazon wich is a new event there, and was met with a myriad of seacreatures, birds, butterflies, spiders, snakes, monkeys, frogs, you name it.

A lil shy blue froggie

Jon and Richie sittin' in a tree...

K-I-S-S-I-N-G, wait.. oh these are parrots...sorry, LOL.

I still will call them Jon and Richie so there :p

Shall we play spot the birdie?

Here's one!

And here! Actually that's two..

Some sting rays..not the posing ones though

It was HOT and humid in there too. Apparantly just like in Amazon. Phew.. I even touched a snakeskin from an Anaconda..and I took a pic of a live one..MAN THAT SNAKE IS HUGE!! No more need to wonder how this swallow a human being?! YIKES.

Time for some snakes, the big ass Anaconda coming up shortly:

And here it comes, drum roll please!! The MASSIVE Anaconda..

Care to have this one as your reptile pet? No?

I can't imagine why.. it isn't like it HAVE TO swallow humans whole or anything...

OK more suggestions for pets, some creepy crawlers maybe?

Maybe this one tickles your fancy?

This is very dark but the pic says, Chilean rose tarantula..sweet name for such a creepy crawler right?

Still not interested? OK, tough crowd...

How bout an alligator?

There was also a feeding of the sharks which was cool, the sharks behaved nicely lol, the eel in there just kept doing his own thing heh, and 2 Sting Rays that I suspected the female being keen on photo ops... it looked like it passed by, GRINNING..seriously these creatures.. Hollywood next or? lol. The female was the biggest one of these, males are smaller..hm..lol. Also learned that sharks have a LOT of teeth...and if they lose one one starts to come out the next day...MAGIC! The only shark that can crack a sea turtle's house is a Tiger Shark...poor sea turtles.

*Cue music from JAWS*..

And here is a true deepwater diva!

"Hello there fans" *flaps and sweeps by*

This sea turtle didn't seem to interested in the attention, blurry pic but..

And then there was this eel.. just sweeping by, minding it's own business...

The lil primates (monkeys) I saw in there was cute..one was so polite he turned his butt to us and started to scratch it..must have been a guy..LMAO. Gotta love animals, they never hide anything. Sweet!

One of the monkeys..no butt scratching in this pic!

Here is a short video I took of the monkeys

This turtle was a lil shy..

This one KINDA reminded me of Nemo but..

So fish got shoulders now...I didn't know that!

One of the fish tanks inside, no clue what kind of fish this is..so I just call it fishy LOL

Here, fishy, fishy, fishy *fish swims away*

This was another HUGE fish inside there

Bit dark but this fish looks like he got a spiky mustache LOL

NOT sure I would wanna fall in the fish tank where these fishies are...I wouldn't last long...

Need I say more? YIKES..but they looked peaceful enough...but from a safe distance..LOL

OK time to spot the butterflies who were EVERYWHERE in the Amazonas exhibition

See any yet? No?

How about now?

No?

How about NOW??

This poor butterfly managed to fly inside in the Exhibition but I think it was ok to do so

Butterfly, butterfly on the wall..

OK some more butterflies..hey they are pretty!!!

OK last one

There, all done with the butterflies :-D.

After this it was time to go into the exibition for creatures from the BC coast, lots of fishes, jelly fish, sea urchins and you name it. Sea plants, sea creatures, there was even an ancient fossile there on display.

Another fave of mine there were the sea lions, cute and playful as always. I didn't get to see the show with them but saw them play around anyways, they are just so damn cute! Then it was time for the adorable sea otters, these furry things were zooming around like race cars, tehn stopped and one was obviously keen on doing some grooming on himself cos he kept doing that for ages, much to us humans' amusements, I suspect the sea otter knew this..he was like he was posing :p.

No,no,no, no pics please, I didn't get my makeup done yet!

Hey, where's my dinner??

The sea otters:

Doin' some workout

Ahhh a nice long strech...ahh

Roll up like a ball is good for you back the trainers say..

See? I can almost curl up into a ball!!

And here is the sea otter in full grooming mode:

And then the dolphins, different breed than the one I swam with in Hawaii but man these were as adorable, black and white ones. Obviously anxious to have a show or something cos one of them kept playing all the time, too cute! Then there was the Beluga whales, I got some cute pics of them, how CUTE are they? I was awwwing all over the damn place LOL. I had to hold it in but man there was so much cutness in this aquarium it was cutness overload!

Beluga wales, gorgeous creatures!

Aren't they pretty??

Playful dolphins!

Playful Dolphins :-D

Then another dolphin creature I saw acted like it was posing for the freakin camera! LOL, hilarious, there was an adorable lil girl who waved at it..the dolpin was POSING for the camera asap I took the camera out! Funny.

Meet Mr/Mrs posing Dolphin

Oh wait, one more?

Wait, this pic is suppose to show the dolphin "standing up"! Somehow Blogger won't do this. So tilt your puter... but here is THE pose LOL

The Jellyfish and sea urchins and plants etc was cool..they even had crystal clear ones, fish glowing in the darks..I did sadly not find Nemo anywhere in there but did find some fish that resembled him....but Nemo himself wasn't to be found.

This looks like a flower, so I am just gonna nickname it seasunflower..*nods*

Just looking at this makes my legs burn...

But it is a pretty picture!

The hours, if you study just about everything in there, can fly away easily, there is so much to see. I did get to see alot but couldn't really read everything.

On my way out from the Aquarium I saw this adorable black Squirrel, right before it I saw an equally adorable grey one but didn't take a pic of it.

After this exciting adventure I headed back to the hotel to drop off my pic and then headed out to Yaletown, nearby Yaletown Roundhouse and ate at a Mexian restaurant there..that was my dinner for today. Since the weater today is so crappy, spitting down with rain it is mostly an indoor type of day, so I am staying in at my hotel tonight. Tomorrow is checkout time and to meet up with the Lundquist family for my stay there.
